Win a Trip to Britain, Help Find Missing Tagline
Britain admits: we can’t do it without America
Britain’s national tourist office issues SOS to help it find missing tagline for new campaign.
Are you known for your sparkling repartee? Can you summon a pithy turn of phrase at the drop of a hat? Want to give Saatchi & Saatchi a run for their money? Well Britain wants YOU.
NEW YORK, December 8, 2009 – VisitBritain, the national tourist office for England, Scotland and Wales has turned to American citizens – and potential visitors – to help it capture the essence of the country’s gay-friendly destinations as it prepares to launch its latest travel campaign for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) communities.
A social media campaign is inviting Americans to suggest a few words or a sentence that VisitBritain can use as tagline for a new, soon-to-launch website promoting destinations and experiences with a gay twist. The winning suggestion will win a trip to Britain and the chance to see their tagline used in the upcoming campaign.
“Can anyone sum up the variety of Britain’s alternative culture in a few words? We certainly hope so, although it won’t be easy and so far has stumped our best minds,” says Simon Bradley, VisitBritain’s executive vice-president for the Americas. “Whether you’ve been already or want to go, we think Americans will have some great ideas about what Britain means to them.”
The new campaign continues to personalize the LGBT experience by different interests: Nightowl, Foodie, Eventgoer, Culturati, Chiller and Fashionista – and will have a wealth of information from the top ten experiences and attractions depending on your interest, to the variety of gay-friendly destinations throughout Britain. Americans might also get ideas and inspiration for their taglines from existing sections for gay and lesbian visitors on visitbritain.com or from their own knowledge and magazines. Email tagline suggestions to lgbttaglinecontest@visitbritain.org by Friday February 5 2010.
