Erika Gupta is Head of Sustainability and Environmental Initiatives at Siemens Financial Services (SFS) Americas. In this role, she leads the sustainability strategy for SFS in the United States, Canada, and Latin America. This includes developing and launching a comprehensive decarbonization tool to enable companies to increase their business competitiveness through decarbonizing their operations.
Prior to this role, Erika Gupta was the Research Group Head at Siemens Technology for Sustainable Buildings and Grids. She was responsible for the Sustainable Energy and Infrastructure strategy and research portfolio for Siemens in the U.S. Before joining Siemens, Erika spent a decade at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). She was the acting program manager for the Emerging Technologies Program in DOE’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Building Technologies (BTO). Her work at BTO leveraged her controls background, focusing on building energy management controls and projects supporting controls and cybersecurity for grid-integrated efficient buildings.
She first joined DOE as a technology development manager in EERE’s Fuel Cell Technologies Office in 2012, managing projects that could lower the cost of delivery of hydrogen. Her portfolio was recognized through R&D 100 awards and the receipt of an outstanding regional partnership award for the highly successful H2FIRST project.
Erika is also a current Board Member for the national non-profit the Center for Sustainable Energy (CSE). CSE accelerates adoption of clean transportation and distributed energy through effective and equitable program design and administration.
She has Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Boston University and a Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering with a focus in Control System Design from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a professional graduate-level certificate in cybersecurity from Harvard University.
