BritishAmerican Business Appoints Alastair Borthwick as Chair and Sean Doyle as Vice Chair

BritishAmerican Business (BAB) is delighted to announce the appointment of Alastair Borthwick, Chief Financial Officer of Bank of America, as its Chair, and Sean Doyle, Chairman and CEO of British Airways, as its Vice Chair.

Alastair succeeds Gavin Patterson, who has completed his term as Chair, and BAB extends its gratitude to Gavin for his leadership and contribution to the Board.

About Alastair Borthwick

Alastair Borthwick is the Chief Financial Officer of Bank of America and a member of the company’s executive management team.

Prior to his current position, he was President of Global Commercial Banking, from 2012-2021. Borthwick also served as Managing Director and Co-Head of Global Capital Markets, as well as Head of Global Investment Grade Debt Capital Markets. Borthwick joined Bank of America in 2005 after 12 years at Goldman Sachs.

Borthwick is the Chair of the Board of Directors of BritishAmerican Business. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Posse Foundation.

Borthwick holds a master’s degree in business administration from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College and graduated from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland where he majored in economics and statistics. He is a member of the Board of Advisors for Tuck.

About Sean Doyle

Sean Doyle was appointed Chief Executive of British Airways in October 2020, and Chairman in April 2021. He sits on the management committee of BA’s parent company, International Airlines Group.

Sean first joined British Airways in 1998, where he began his career as a financial analyst. During his time at British Airways Sean held a number of senior roles in London and the US, and in 2016 was appointed to the airline’s executive leadership team as Director of Network, Fleet & Alliances.

From January 2019, prior to his appointment as Chief Executive of British Airways, Sean was Chief Executive of Aer Lingus. He also sits on the leadership council of Britain In The Community and on the Government’s Aviation Council and Jet Zero Council.

Sean is married with a son and is a graduate of University College Cork.
