BritishAmerican Business (BAB) submission to the Office of the United States Trade Representative on Negotiating Objectives for a Trade Agreement with the United Kingdom

BritishAmerican Business has submitted its response to the request from the Office of the United States Trade Representative for comments on the priorities and negotiating objectives for a future U.S.-UK Trade Agreements.

BAB’s response incorporates our previous work on the future of UK-US trade and investment relationship and work during the TTIP negotiations.

The USTR was particularly interested in hearing about:

  • Barriers to trade in goods and services for US business into the UK
  • The economic costs and benefits to the US, producers and consumers of reduction of tariffs and non-tariff barriers
  • The UK’s treatment of specific goods – particular examples of discriminatory market access regulations which have inhibited or added extra costs to doing business in the UK
  • Other measures or practices that undermine fair market opportunities for U.S. businesses, workers, farmers and ranchers that should be addressed in the negotiations
  • Customs and trade facilitation issues, sanitary/phytosanitary measures and technical barriers to trade

Whilst we have submitted this response to USTR we are always looking to receive examples from UK and US companies of barriers to trade and investment going both ways across the Atlantic.
