Tamra Eker is Managing Director of BritishAmerican Business (BAB), the leading transatlantic trade association. In this role she oversees strategy across the US/UK organization, with a focus on membership, marketing, programming and diversity & inclusion initiatives. She is also responsible for the organization’s US operation and is President of the BritishAmerican Business Network, the umbrella body of British American business chambers across the US and UK.
Prior to her appointment as Managing Director, Ms. Eker served a variety of roles at BAB including Executive Director; Senior Director & Deputy Head of New York; Interim Head of Events & Program Development; and Associate Director, Member Relations & Programs since arriving to BAB in 2007. Ms. Eker also served as a consultant for BAB’s J-1 Visa program and provided the Secretariat to the British-American Business Council for over 10 years.
During her tenure at BAB, she has developed and implemented B2B and B2C strategies that substantively engage more than 400 multinational companies and SMEs in New York and London. These strategies have focused on business development, client relations, marketing & communications, and development of strategic partnerships.
Under Ms. Eker’s leadership, the organization has grown it’s programming and content portfolios, including leadership development programs; trade promotion content; diversity, equity & inclusion conversations; ESG and sustainability roundtables; conferences & working sessions for Financial Services and other key sectors.
Ms. Eker has developed a broad network of contacts across the US and UK from within multinational corporations, growth companies, US and UK governments, as well as bi-lateral trade associations and non-profit organizations. She is often called on to act a bridge between these organizations in support of transatlantic initiatives.
Ms. Eker holds a B.A. in Sociology and Classical Voice from Tufts University and an M.A. in Nonprofit Administration from NYU’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development and Stern School of Business. She currently serves on the Executive Committee of the European-American Chamber of Commerce in the United States and on the Board of Trustees with her synagogue, Temple Beth Sholom, in New York.
