Keri Sweet Zavaglia joined National Grid in 2006, one of the largest investor-owned energy companies in the United States. Keri is helping to implement National Grid’s vision for a fossil free future while delivering safe, reliable, and affordable service to more than 20 million people throughout New York and Massachusetts. Since 2019, she serves as the U.S. General Counsel and is responsible for all corporate, commercial, governance, litigation, employment, finance and securities, real estate, and federal and state regulatory legal matters across the company’s service territory. Prior to this role, Keri served as the Vice President, Performance and Strategy for National Grid’s three New York operating companies and as the Acting Vice President of Upstate New York Gas Operations. While in operations, Keri was responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of 9,000 miles of natural gas pipeline and the maintenance and construction of assets serving more than 600,000 customers. Prior to joining National Grid, Keri served as an Assistant District Attorney in Philadelphia in the Repeat Offenders Unit.

Keri also serves as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of Énergir, a diversified energy business with more than $9B in assets whose mission is to meet the energy needs of its customers and the communities it serves in an increasingly sustainable way. Énergir is the largest natural gas distribution company in Québec and, through its joint ventures, it also generates electricity from wind power. In the United States, Énergir generates electricity from hydraulic, wind, and solar sources and it is the largest electricity distributor and the sole natural gas distributor in Vermont.

In addition, Keri serves on the Board of Directors of the St. Joseph’s Health Hospital and the United Way of Central New York. Keri is the Executive Sponsor of the PRIDE employee resource group and serves on the legal committees of multiple industry organizations including the American Gas Association and Edison Electric Institute. She was the Chair of the American Heart Association’s 2022 CNY Heart Challenge and serves as a member of the 2023 Executive Leadership team.

Keri was named by the National Diversity Council to its 2022 Power 50 list and recognized as one of the 2022 global INvolve Heroes 100 Executives Role Models, sponsored by Yahoo!Finance.

Keri earned her Juris Doctorate from Temple University Beasley School of Law and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism also from Temple University. She lives in Manlius, NY with her two sons Michael and Matthew and their dog Molly.
