Personally, Tony Marroney is an out gay man, global co-chair of Standard Chartered’s LGBTQ+ employee resource group SC Pride. Tony has over 20 years of working in DE&I, specifically LGBTQ+ and gender inclusion, in various capacities – peer counsellor and peer educator, founding member of various Diversity & Inclusion councils (Seton Hall Law School’s Dean’s Diversity Council, Standard Chartered Bank’s Americas D&I Council, and the SC Property JEDI Council), and local and global ERG lead.
Professionally, Tony is a recovering lawyer licensed in NY, NJ, and before the US Supreme Court. He trained at the EU Court of Justice in Luxembourg and started his legal career as a criminal prosecutor in Essex County, NJ.
Tony joined Standard Chartered Bank nearly 7 years ago as a Financial Crimes Investigator doing primarily counter-terrorism investigations, then moved back into the legal world managing operational risk and then working as Chief of Staff to Standard Chartered’s General Counsel for Europe and the Americas.
In 2020, with impeccable timing, Tony moved into the Corporate Real Estate world just in time for the pandemic, where in addition to his role as the Head of Property for North and South America, he also double-hats as the Regional Head of Property Asset Management for Europe and the Americas.
