Kirsty McVicar
Counsellor, Trade, Agriculture and Economic Security, The British Embassy in Washington DC
Kirsty McVicar is the Counsellor for Trade, Agriculture and Economic Security for the British Embassy in Washington DC since June 2022. Her team leads on federal and state-level trade policy as well as economic security issues. Prior to joining the Embassy in late 2019 (where she started as deputy Counsellor), Kirsty worked for the UK Government on EU Exit (2016-2019) as Senior Private Secretary/Chief of Staff to the Secretary of State, DEXEU, followed by a role in the UK negotiations team. Previous roles include EU and International roles across the UK diplomatic service and UK Cabinet office in Brussels and a secondment to the Italian Government in Rome. Kirsty holds a MA in European Union Studies with French and Italian from the University of Edinburgh, and she is fluent in French and Italian
