Sonali serves as Vice President, Global Sustainability at Johnson & Johnson, where she leads the strategic development and delivery of the enterprise environmental stewardship strategy, including climate action, water stewardship, biodiversity, sustainable products and solutions, and our enterprise partnerships to advance sustainable healthcare. Sonali’s leadership and expertise in global sustainability, social impact and brand building comes from more than 20 years working in corporate and social enterprise sectors across multiple industries, in both developed and emerging markets.
During her time at Johnson & Johnson, Sonali led the development and rollout of the company’s current science-based climate goals, which focus on transitioning to 100% renewable electricity and reducing carbon emissions across global operations, while also engaging key suppliers to take their own climate action. She also partners with key functions such as finance, legal and worldwide government affairs to address key environmental topics with external stakeholders including managing our approach to emerging environmental regulations and disclosure requirements. Under her guidance, Johnson & Johnson has initiated multiple partnerships to support community-based programs related to environmental health equity.
Prior to joining Johnson & Johnson in 2016, she led Global Brand Management at FINCA International, an inclusive finance social enterprise, where she drove brand and customer transformation efforts across 23 Subsidiaries in Africa, Eurasia, the Middle East, South Asia and Latin America. Sonali has spent several years as a brand strategy and sustainability consultant to a diverse group of CPG, healthcare, technology, hospitality and nonprofit organizations. Earlier in her career, she worked at Interbrand as Director, Brand Strategy, and at Procter & Gamble as Assistant Brand Manager, Healthcare, in ASEAN, Australia and India.
Sonali is passionate about the intersection of business, technology and innovation to create sustainable and scalable social impact and advises many social impact startups. She co-founded a seed-funded technology startup focused on corporate brand building, community impact and social media, which wound down operations in 2012.
Sonali earned her Bachelor of Business Studies degree from University of Delhi, India; a Master of Business Administration from NMIMS, Mumbai, India; and a Master in Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA.
